It may just be a harmless kids game, but this island takes a darker turn. When you go through the vent, there are newspapers blocking your way into the Apothecary shop. You can just click through them, but if you take the time to read them, you gain a clue as to who the island villain really is.

The first newspaper you pick up shows "Bird Boy" running away from the townspeople as the exile him. The date on this newspaper is August 6th, 1936. If you read the actual words, it says, "Bird Boy Exiled, Town Saved From Pint-Sized Menace." And the other caption relative to this topic on this newspaper is "Normalcy Restored."

The next newspaper is has a picture of a man infront of a "Custom Frame Shoppe." The relevant captions say, "Bird Boy or Firebug?" "Justice or Revenge?" "Public Outrage Intensifies." "Our Town in Crisis." And, "Citizens to Discuss Solution For Troublesome Carnival Freak." The date this time is August 4th, 1936. Two days before Bird Boy's exile.

Our third papers front pager is Bird Boy in cuffs. The title reads, "THE CULPRIT FOUND!" Followed by, "Carnival Orphan Blamed For Arson Incident." Other frases worth reading are, "Manhunt Lasted For Hours, Whole Town Volunteers." And, "Spelling Bee Champion Uses Wits & Moxie, Helps Coppers Catch Villain." Odd. The date reads, August 3rd, 1936.

Next in the pile of newspapers has a burning house on the cover. So that's the arson. The largest frase says, "UP IN FLAMES!" And under that is, "Suspicious Fire Consumes Honest Gabe's Horse Re-Shoeing." Yes, that IS suspicious. On the front are a series of columns, titled, "Problems." "Mayor Seeks Answers." "Town Is Gripped By Terror." And "Arson Suspected." This newspaper was published two days prior to the previous paper, on August 1st, 1936.

When you look at the next newspaper, you see a picture of a strange looking young boy, who happens to be Bird Boy. The title is, "Bird Boy Left Behind." then, "Orphaned Carnival Worker, 'Just Wants A Home'." Oh wow. The poor boy. Then you notice, "Town Says Welcome." And "Bird Boy Found Behind Pig Pen." So, they were fine with him originally? This happens to be the newspaper from July 30th, 1936. Interesting.

The final newspaper is from when the Carnival first came to town. In the featured picture we can clearly see where it says, "Dunk the Bird Boy." That's probably why he left. When you look at the main column, it's title reads, "Carnivsl Comes to Town." and after that, "Promises Fun And Excitement For All Ages." Interesting, this came out five days before they found Bird Boy. And the Carnival only stay's in town for a single day this time. Odd. VERY odd.

What's your take on this? What do YOU think this means? Could it be that this is only half of the backstory behind Bird Boy? Anyways, that's just a theory. A Poptropican Theory!
